The Red Book is a personal injury and accident journal published by Binary Software Solutions (“we,” “us”). We built it to keep your health information private. This policy explains what the app does with your data. In short: your record stays on your device, and we don’t collect it.
Everything you enter stays on your device. This can include the notes, injury types, body locations, swelling and pain levels, dates, and photos or videos you add to an entry; the map location of an entry; and the details in your Medical Profile — blood type, allergies, conditions, medications, prescriptions, doctors, pharmacies, insurance, and emergency contacts. This information is stored locally and encrypted (AES-256-GCM, with keys protected by the device Keychain / Secure Enclave and file protection).
None. The Red Book has no user accounts and no analytics or advertising services. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your information. Your entries and Medical Profile are never sent to us or to any third party.
The app asks for certain permissions only to provide features you choose to use, and the data they touch stays on your device:
You can decline any of these and continue to use the rest of the app, and you can change them anytime in the system Settings app.
Maps and searches for nearby urgent care and hospitals are provided by Apple Maps. Your use of that feature is subject to Apple’s privacy practices. We do not receive your location or search results.
The app can export a PDF summary or a short recap video of your entries so you can share them with a doctor or family member. Those exports are created on your device and are shared only when and where you choose (for example, via the system share sheet). We are not involved in that transfer.
Because your data lives only on your device, you control it. Deleting an entry removes it, and deleting the app removes all of its data from the device. We hold nothing to delete on your behalf.
The Red Book is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
The Red Book provides general first-aid information and an optional, informational symptom check. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If symptoms are severe or worsening, or you are unsure, call your local emergency number (911 in the U.S.).
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and post the new version here. If we ever add features that transmit data off your device (for example, optional cloud sync), we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that feature ships.
